B Ratings System
We are excited to announce a new free service for all SBN Members. SBN has partnered with B Lab to offer members an opportunity to measure and benchmark their social and environmental performance using the B Ratings System. The B Ratings System is a comprehensive, user-friendly, online survey which evaluates your company's impact on all stakeholders (Employees, Community, Environment, Consumers, and Governance).
Taking the survey is a relatively easy process. Simply click the link, fill-out the profile, and you're off and running. The entire process should take 60 to 90 minutes. You also have the opportunity to save your work and come back later to finish the survey, if need be. Your answers are completely confidential and only available to B Lab and SBN for aggregate reporting purposes. B Lab and SBN staff are available to answer any questions as you go through the process. As a triple bottom line business organization, SBN is requiring all business members to take the B Survey as a condition of membership. SBN will then be able to consolidate our members' performance and generate reports on our community's social and environmental impact. With this information, SBN can:
1. Benchmark & improve our community's social and environmental impact.
2. Report to funders about our progress.
3. Plan educational programming for members.
Taking the B Ratings System does not require you to become a Certified B Corporation. Over 3,700 companies have taken the B Ratings System to date - it is free and available to everyone. If you would like more information about B Corporation Certification, feel free to contact B Lab at the number listed above. B Lab is a non-profit that certifies responsible businesses as B Corporations. In 18 months, they have certified 168 businesses as B Corporations, 27 of which are SBN members.
Lastly, B Lab and SBN will be holding programming sessions throughout the year to teach you how to best use the B Ratings System to assess and improve your social and environmental performance.
