HomeThree Ways to Get Involved in the Best for PHL Program

Written by Guest Contributor, Cynthia Estremera

The Best for PHL Challenge is well underway!

The Best for PHL team is excited that the Philly business community is eager to take the challenge and measure their impact; but, completing the quick impact assessment is not the end of the journey. There are other ways for businesses and nonprofits to get involved and support the program by engaging in roles that encourage all businesses in the Greater Philadelphia Area to improve their impact and recognize their role in improving the quality of life for all Philadelphians.

#1. Take the Challenge!

Best for PHL works to encourage, equip, and recognize companies in the Philadelphia region who commit to making a positive impact, and sustain their ongoing participation in the region’s impact economy. The Best for PHL Challenge includes a free online tool to help you compare your business’s impact on workers, communities, and the environment against thousands of businesses and provides resources to improve. Every business owner who attends the workshop attests to the value of their time spent in the workshop and the power of brainstorming ways to improve their impact. To register for an upcoming workshops visit: www.bestforphl.com/events.

#2. Refer a Business!

After you’ve taken the Challenge and have become a Best for PHL Community Member, you can use that opportunity to refer other businesses to the program! Tell your friends and your network about the ways you learned how to better your business and encourage them to sign up for a free workshop. We will supply you with materials to pass along so you can challenge other business leaders to measure what matters.

#3. Become a Host!

Have a network of your own businesses or suppliers? Already invested in the region’s impact economy? Your company or organization can help promote the Best for PHL Challenge across the region by serving as a Best for PHL Challenge Workshop host!

Hosts support the Best for PHL Challenge by identifying and booking space in their community for a workshop. It can be your business space or a community site that can be booked privately and accessible for at least three hours with strong WiFi. You should also be able to recruit at least five companies in your network to participate in the workshop, and you should also attend the workshop and speak about your company’s experience as part of Greater Philadelphia’s impact economy. The Best for PHL Team will support you by facilitating the workshop and supporting the host with guidance, while empowering your network to measure what matters and identify areas for improvement. The best part of the workshop is the opportunity for businesses to network and collaborate about shared successes. The next Best for PHL workshop is being hosted by WeWork at 1900 Market Street (8th floor) Philadelphia, PA 19103 and led by SBN’s very own Saleem Chapman on Tuesday, May 16th from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM. Please register at bestforphl.com/events before seats fill up. Light refreshments will be provided.
