The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN) is excited to offer a first-time opportunity to local, values driven businesses throughout the region committed to fostering a climate resilient future through clean energy priorities. Please see below the scope of the prize and eligibility!
Scope: The purpose of this prize is to support clean energy upgrades to local, independent businesses throughout Greater Philadelphia. Although financial and technical resources are available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and local institutions for businesses that own their own property, the majority of businesses in our region are not property owners, making it difficult for them to be able to take advantage of these resources. For this reason, SBN is excited to offer its first-ever Clean Energy Prize for existing members to SBN who do not own their own business property. You must be a current SBN member and in good standing to participate in this cash prize opportunity.
SBN will grant a $1,500 cash prize towards any clean energy upgrade that a business owner is interested in pursuing, with an emphasis on solar, refrigeration, vehicle electrification, and lighting. Applicants must complete an eligibility form highlighting what the funding will be used for, what percentage of the total costs SBN’s contribution will cover, and what other funding sources have been obtained that will contribute towards their goal. In addition, applicants must highlight what outcomes they anticipate from the upgrade (i.e. if the owner anticipates a cost savings from making an upgrade, they should specify what those savings will be used for). Applicants must specify a timeline for the project, ideally to be completed within a year of the funding disbursement.
Eligibility:
- You must be a current SBN member and in good standing with the membership to participate.
- Must own a business, but not own the property the business occupies.
- To qualify for solar upgrades, the business owner must demonstrate that their property owner is in agreement with the upgrades and has exhausted all other possible funding options.
Timeline: SBN will accept applications from Jun 30, 2023 through Jul 31, 2023 and will make a determination of the winner within 14 days of the submission.
