The GSI Partners have been working for the past year and half on developing a course targeted at landscape professionals to support their learning and transition into this growing area of the green stormwater infrastructure industry. The need for more contractors qualified to conduct GSI O+M is increasing in tandem with an increase in the number of GSI projects installed. GSI is infrastructure, and as such, each project has a legally binding agreement with Philadelphia Water so that they can ensure ongoing performance and regulatory compliance.
AKRF has been the consultant developing the content of the course, and has been supported by a Leadership Team that includes staff from the EPA and DEP, faculty from Temple and Villanova, and staff from one of our members, David Brothers. We have also been in regular contact with Philadelphia Water who has been supportive throughout our process.
The course will be held over 3 consecutive Fridays: August 21, August 28, and September 4 at Villanova’s Navy Yard location. Two of the three days will be in the classroom; the 3rd day will be in the field. The classroom only seats 40, so be sure to save the dates and register as soon as you can.
The GSI Partners’ Continuing Education Grants will be available to members interested in taking this course.
