Congratulations to the City of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Water (PWD) for surpassing the five year goals of Green City, Clean Waters (GCCW), Philadelphia’s groundbreaking agreement to reduce stormwater runoff and combined sewer overflows by investing in green stormwater infrastructure. Over 440 green stormwater infrastructure tools have greened almost 840 acres, keeping more than 1.5 billion gallons of polluted water out of our rivers and streams each year!
PWD Commissioner, Debra McCarty, penned an article in Philly.com recognizing the accomplishments of GCCW and challenging Philadelphia to meet the 10-year goals, which will nearly triple what the City has accomplished so far. We can do it!
And thank you to the City departments; private developers and property owners; local designers, contractors, landscape professionals, and material suppliers; environmental advocates; residents; elected officials; and other stakeholders who contributed to this early success!
