SBN Announces Recipients of GSI Monitoring Grant Pilot Program

SBN, via the GSI Partners, developed a monitoring grant pilot program to support data collection on the performance of private GSI projects and encourage its dissemination. Further data collection of these sites and their stormwater management practices (SMP’s) will support the GSI Partners’ objectives for research and innovation to advance the state-of-the-art of the GSI industry.

We congratulate the following recipients of our GSI Monitoring Grant pilot program, and thank the property owners for opening their sites to data collection.

 1. PEER Environmental, LLC, with LandStudies, will be monitoring at La Salle University.
 2. Gilmore & Associates, Inc. will be monitoring at the Germantown Friends School.
 3. Meliora Design, with Andropogon Associates, Ltd., will be monitoring the Perelman Plaza at Drexel University.

We extend many thanks to all of the applicants and the property owners who supported their applications; our selection committee, which included support from the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD), Villanova University, and the PA Department of Environmental Protection; Stroud Water Research Center and PWD for offering technical support and guidance to grant recipients; and the William Penn Foundation for funding this grant program.

The Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Partners is a signature initiative of SBN working collaboratively to advance the local GSI industry, innovation, and the local economy as it relates to GSI.

Formed in 2012 in response to Philadelphia’s ambitious and innovative stormwater management plan, Green City, Clean Waters, the GSI Partners advocate for the greenest approaches to be facilitated and incentivized as much as possible, and for the public and private investment to remain as local as possible. Members include locally-owned engineering and landscape architecture firms; landscape design, build, and maintenance firms; and material suppliers whose services and products pertain to GSI. Many GSI Partners are recognized as industry experts locally, regionally, and nationally.
