“SBN’s GSI Partners embodies, for me, a true model of multi-stakeholder collaboration proactively working to create mutually beneficial solutions.”
I couldn’t be more excited to be joining SBN’s GSI Partners team and the greater SBN community!
Change is afoot in the Greater Philadelphia region (and around the world) as issues relating to environmental and community resilience are becoming more apparent at increasing rates of severity. Opportunities for collaborative, innovative thinking and partnerships are emerging and evolving as individuals, businesses, municipalities, and other organizations are recognizing their abilities to be active forces of change within their communities.
While stormwater and runoff are not new issues, the way in which developers, homeowners, and communities are engaging with vegetative practices as a tool for mitigation is increasing and becoming more integrative as an approach in both public and private infrastructure and development projects.
What I find even more exciting to think about is how such practices connect to the bigger picture of how they can create a lasting positive impact on people, businesses, and the environment.
How can the efforts we put into our built environments work to build symbiotic connections that can generate greater value to our communities without increasing negative impacts to the natural environment?
What role does each stakeholder have to play?
How can we work together to create benefits for all parties?
As a believer and supporter of triple bottom line businesses and the notion that business can be a force for good, SBN’s GSI Partners, in conjunction with Philadelphia’s Green City, Clean Waters, embodies, for me, a true model of multi-stakeholder collaboration proactively working to create mutually beneficial solutions.
Three weeks in and I am already feeling the great energy that surrounds the GSI Partners network and its partner organizations. I am excited about the opportunities and growth to come and look forward to learning from and getting to know you all in the months ahead!
The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia’s (SBN) Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Partners is a signature initiative of SBN working to advance the local GSI industry, innovation, and the local economy as it relates to GSI.
Formed in 2012 in response to *Philadelphia’s ambitious and innovative stormwater management plan, Green City, Clean Waters, SBN’s GSI Partners advocate for the greenest approaches to be facilitated and incentivized as much as possible, and for the public and private investment to remain as local as possible. Members include locally-owned engineering and landscape architecture firms; landscape design, build, and maintenance firms; and material suppliers whose services and products pertain to GSI. Many GSI Partners are recognized as industry experts, locally, regionally, and nationally.
