Are you available every Saturday and 1-2 days each week? Do you have a car? Are you reliable, friendly and outgoing? Are you organized and thoughtful in your work practice? Do you care about coffee and where it comes from? Can you lift up to 30lbs? Are you comfortable standing on your feet in all types of weather?
If you answered yes to ALL of these questions, send us your resume AND a cover letter describing a little bit about yourself!
Philly Fair Trade Coffee Roasters has been roasting to order since 2010. We retail at Farmers Markets year round and are looking for someone passionate about selling coffee. We are a local, socially and environmentally conscious company delivering high quality, specialty grade coffee to our wholesale customers. Experience with the coffee industry is preferred but a love for coffee is mandatory. Interest in Fair Trade and Organic practices are a plus and part of what you will be educating the public at our Fitler Square Farm Market stand and various demo sites. This is definitely a no drama work environment.
Your Saturday would begin early at our Warehouse in North Philly gathering supplies, heading to Bryn Mawr to set up, sell then break down and head back to the Warehouse with an accurate tally sheet for the day’s sales. On Sunday, repeat but at Headhouse Square. Use of our company van is an option and all personal vehicle use will have reimbursement in addition to the hourly pay.
Your demo experience will be to visit our wholesale Market and Co-op vendors to conduct coffee tasting demos. You will need to work independently and arrive at locations on time, ensure coffee is prepared at optimum temperature and flavor, vendor staff needs are met, customers are engaged in the demo offerings, break down by time allotted and return supplies to the warehouse. From time to time, there may be opportunities to work in the warehouse or at special events. Your normal work schedule is 2 or more demos a week.
These markets are a staple outlet for our only direct retail customer base. They rely on us to be there each week and love a friendly regular face. Your co-workers are essentially the other Farm Market stand workers and require someone who is excited about the mission of small, local businesses who care about the environment and the personal nature of its process.
We look forward to hearing from you!
