Position Description
The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN) seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented graduate level Program Evaluation Intern to accelerate our program evaluation efforts for Fall 2024. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program evaluation within a dynamic non-profit organization. Internship activities will support local values-driven businesses in improving environmental and social outcomes in the region. The intern will assist the Executive Director in collecting data from business members to assess membership engagement, member retention, and collaborative business transactions between members.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of evaluation tools such as surveys, interview guides, and focus group protocols.
- Coordinate, perform direct outreach, and schedule evaluation activities with business members, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
- Collect, manage, and analyze data from various evaluation activities.
- Compile and interpret data to identify trends and insights related to membership engagement, member retention, and business transactions between members.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations based on evaluation findings.
- Support the Program and Membership Manager in communicating evaluation results to key stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of recommendations for program improvements based on evaluation results.
- Maintain accurate records of evaluation activities and data.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, events, and other activities as needed to support the execution of evaluation efforts.
- Assist with other relevant tasks, as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program and eligible to receive academic credit or stipend for the internship. Preferred areas of study include, but are not limited to, environmental or sustainability studies, business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, urban planning, and data science.
- Strong interest in program evaluation, sustainability, and business engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with data collection and analysis and using analytical software is a plus.
- Ability to work 10-20 hours per week for approximately 15 weeks or one semester.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in program evaluation within a nonprofit organization and engage with a diverse network of local businesses that care about their social and environmental impacts. SBN offers a flexible work environment with a mix of remote and in-office/on-site work. Interns will also have the opportunity to sit in on staff meetings, event and programming planning meetings, and interact with other members of the larger SBN community. Interns may have the opportunity to extend their position beyond 15 weeks and may be eligible to work additional hours per week, as determined on a case-by-case basis.
