Glaze Team Member

Felt+Fat seeks the newest addition to the glaze team, a dynamic unit of the design studio and manufacturer. This team is responsible for finishing all of our wares either by dipping or with a spray gun. As the final finishing step it is crucial for candidates to have an eye for detail to minimize loss and be as accurate as possible. A glaze team member will need to have a sense of urgency while working within their team and independently to reach daily glazing goals. They must have strong verbal communication skills to work closely with their team and cross departmentally. This position is F/T and located in Kensington. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prep and quality check bisque wear, including sanding when necessary
  • Mix glazes and document all specs required(SG and viscosity)
  • Glaze, wipe, and stamp all wares that have been assigned individually and as department
  • Loading/unloading the kiln
  • Keep all glazing areas, carts, tools, and bisque storage clean and organized
  • Change the water for the drill as needed (approx. once a week)
  • Be an active member of the Felt+Fat team by helping team members when needed
  • Follow all safety requirements of position and production space
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of work experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize with little oversight
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hrs a day and lift 50lbs
  • Ability to effectively problem solve
  • Detail Oriented
  • Ability to take direction

Nice but not required: 

  • Experience working in glazing and ceramics
  • Experience working with high touch ceramic finishing process

Expectation + Compensation

  • 40 hours p. week
  • Commensurate with experience: $15-18hr starting
  • Health and Dental Insurance
  • PTO
