About GSI Partners

Advancing the local GSI industry, innovation, and a triple bottom line economy

The GSI Partners, a signature initiative of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN), is an active network of local businesses in the green stormwater infrastructure industry.

Formed in 2013, this initiative was catalyzed by the City of Philadelphia’s comprehensive nature-based stormwater management plan, Green City, Clean Waters, which set a 25-year vision for environmental, social, and economic benefits for our city and region. SBN supports this triple bottom line plan and is working to ensure its maximum success.

Through our GSI Partners, SBN is increasing public and private investment in GSI, fueling industry innovation, and encouraging contracting with diverse local firms.

GSI Partners is the region’s only business-informed effort focused on advancing green approaches to stormwater management. Members include locally-owned engineering and landscape architecture firms; landscape design, build, and maintenance firms; and material suppliers whose services and products relate to GSI.  Many of SBN’s GSI Partners are industry experts on local, regional, and national scales.

“We’ve been so honored to receive an Excellence in GSI Award for our Jenkintown Creek project. This recognition provided us with wonderful attention and credibility! We also enjoy attending the GSI Partners Quarterly Meetings, which present valuable information and include great networking.”

Our strategy for accomplishing this includes:

1. Coalition-Building

Our network brings together a wide range of GSI stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices, and advance the industry and innovation. The unique collaboration of private and public partners allows for progression towards our shared goal of maximizing the environmental, economic, and social impact of GSI in the region.

2. Advocacy

We advocate for GSI to be the easiest and most cost-effective stormwater management solution for public and private projects.  Thus, we focus on ways that GSI can be best facilitated and incentivized, including but not limited to the approval process, creative financing, and project delivery methods.

3. Education

Through quarterly meetings and other programming, our partnership provides GSI industry leaders with relevant content and other resources as well as timely policy updates and other industry news effecting the City and the Greater Philadelphia region. In addition, SBN offers an annual GSI Operations & Maintenance course for local businesses looking to strengthen or expand their service portfolio to meet growing demand.
