SBN’s Sustainable & Local Tour: East Passyunk

Welcome to SBN’s 2nd Annual Sustainable & Local Tour!

We’re excited for you to join us for our 2nd Annual Sustainable & Local Tour this year, highlighting businesses in East Passyunk on Saturday, September 30, from 11am – 3pm.

The activity and family fun-filled day will consist of guided walking and self-guided tours, scavenger hunts, shopping, and learning more about East Passyunk’s diverse business corridor and its sustainable practices.

We’ve compiled information you’ll need for the day, including a list of the businesses participating in the tour, their sustainability practices, and their exclusive special offers and discounts. Please see information regarding the tour and these businesses below. Guided Tours will begin promptly at 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm. Self-guided tours and scavenger hunts will be throughout the day.

Registration and guided tours that will begin and end will be at the East Passyunk Singing Fountain (11th St/Passyunk Ave). There, tour-goers will check in and receive a wristband, allowing them access to offers and discounts from each business participating in the event.

Additional Details

Location: The East Passyunk Singing Fountain is located at S 11th St & E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19147. Guided tours begin at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour begins. Self guided tours will be throughout the day, as well as scavenger hunts. Please arrive to the East Passyunk Singing Fountain for check-in and to receive a wristband.

Tour Stops:

All guests will receive a wristband, tour map, and an email confirmation to for the tour. Please show your wristband, and/or email confirmation when arriving at a tour stop to receive discounts, promotions, or special offers from the businesses. 

  • Guided Tour: All Guided Tour participants will leave from the East Passyunk Singing Fountain and will then head south towards South Philly Food Co-op and then head north towards Cartesian Brewing. Guided tour stops will be around 90 mins., leaving plenty of time for those to shop. 
  • Self-Guided Tour: All Self-Guided Tour participants will check-in at the East Passyunk Singing Fountain and will be given a map to check out the tour stops at their own pace. You’ll be able to meet the owner or visit each stop, learn about their sustainable practices, and shop directly. Self-guided tours can be as long or short as you want! 
  • Scavenger Hunt: This segment is intended for groups, but individuals can play as well! At the beginning of each hunt, teams will be given a scorecard and instructions to scour each stop to locate items and answer questions while learning more about each business’ sustainability practice. Winners of the scavenger hunt will receive a prize. Hunts can take as long or as short as you want!

What to Bring: It will be a warm day, so please prepare as necessary with sunscreen and appropriate sun-gear. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. 

COVID-19 Precautions: Precautions are at the discretion of the participants and each business’s policies. We ask that you please respect the rules of all the businesses participating in the tour. 

Children: Children under 12 can attend for free, please register each child to ensure accurate number of scavenger hunts.

Getting to and from East Passyunk:

  • Walking
    From Center City, walk down Broad Street or 9th Street and take a tour of the bustling Italian Market. At Pat’s and Geno’s, bear right onto East Passyunk Avenue. The walk takes approximately 25 minutes.
  • Subway
    Take the Broad Street (Orange) Line to the Tasker-Morris station, which runs every 6 minutes. Then walk two blocks east to East Passyunk Avenue. The Broad Street Line conveniently connects to Regional Rail Lines, the Market-Frankford (Blue) Line, and the Subway-Surface (Green) Lines. Visit www.septa.org for schedules.
  • Bus
    Take the Route 45 or 4 from Center City or Route 29 (East/West), which all cross East Passyunk Avenue. The Route 2, Route 37, Route 47 and Route 47m  buses all stop within a few blocks of East Passyunk Ave. Visit www.septa.org for schedules and maps.
  • Car
    From I-76, take Exit 347B (Passyunk Avenue). Travel east on Passyunk Avenue, cross Broad Street, and continue onto East Passyunk Avenue. From I-95, take Exit 19 for I-76 toward Packer Ave, follow signs for Oregon Ave, turn Left on Front Street, Left on Oregon Ave, Right on Broad Street and bear Right on East Passyunk Ave
  • Self Parking
    Metered parking is available on the Avenue and in a municipal parking lot between Tasker and Morris for $1 per hour with a three hour maximum and free two hour parking is available on side streets.
