The Excellence in GSI Awards Ceremony is the region’s only award that celebrates and elevates green stormwater infrastructure projects and innovations, the triple bottom line (TBL) benefits of a nature-based approach to stormwater management, and the partners who bring these projects to life in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
Winning applications highlight the triple bottom line (environmental, social, and economic) benefits of a green infrastructure approach to stormwater management.

On behalf of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN), the GSI Partners will be recognizing excellence in GSI in the following categories:
Public Projects
Built projects managed in large part by a public agency and/or on public property (municipal, state, federal)
Private Projects
Built projects managed in large part by private entity and/or on private property
Innovation
Processes, programs or technology that break new ground, by applying information, ingenuity, and initiative to significantly advance GSI’s impact

2019 Winners
We are proud to announce the 2019 Excellence in GSI Awards Winners
Public Projects
SALT Design Studio, the Chester Arthur Schoolyard. SALT Design Studio, commissioned by Friends of Chester Arthur (FoCA), strategically and beautifully implemented green stormwater infrastructure in the school’s playground design, addressing sustainability while integrating STEM curriculum into the school’s physical landscape.
Private Projects
West Laurel Hill Cemetery –Private Project; Nature’s Sanctuary. West Laurel Hill Cemetery created a green burial cemetery as part of its on-going sustainability efforts by coordinating communications, reintroducing stratified vegetation and utilizing the cooling effects of evapotranspiration.
Innovation Projects
Asarum LandDesign Group; –The Kelly Green Project. Asarum LandDesign Group transformed John B. Kelly schools grounds from a vacant space to a community gathering space with an emphasis on socially engaged design and community process.
Innovation Technology
Stroud Water Research Center; –WikiWatershed. Stroud Water Research developed the Model My Watershed web-based application to explore human activity on neighborhoods and watersheds, used as both an educational tool as well as a land-use decision tool.
